A Look At What's Been Going On With Our Youth

February 2024 Basketball Training Clinic and Dinner
Premier NW Basketball Coach Matthew Young from Vancouver Elite Basketball Outreach Mentorship Program had our first clinic with our youth on February 4th at Grace Foursquare Church. Coach Matthew Young is a phenomenal trainer. He trained Ehren and Kia's son with basketball for sure, but it is more than the game. He helped him in his everyday life as well. So we are so happy for this partnership. Each weeks clinic includes basketball training, mentorship, and dinner!

Alejandra & Josh's Wedding
We have the privilege of being part of Alejandra and Josh’s wedding. They have asked Ehren to officiate their wedding.

Young Life Camp at Malibu
In July 2023 we took a group from Camas High School to a Young Life camp called Malibu in Canada. Two of the boys that have moved away are flew in from Florida and Sacramento to join their friends on this trip. A fifteen hour trip to camp gave us plenty of time to connect. We love to see their continued desire for growth in their relationship with Jesus and their deepening relationship with one another.

Guatemala
In August 2023 we took 23 teenagers to Guatemala in August through Courts for Kids. We headed to a Mayan village to build a multipurpose sports court alongside the community members there. The hard work of the court and the hard work of learning and connecting with another culture was well worth all the effort. This trip was be life-changing for all of us.

Heritage High School
We started working with kids from Heritage High School. We met once a week right after school for games, food and devotions. We are sending about ten kids to summer camp in July. Jenny, one of the kids we have been mentoring since sixth grade is leading the girls group.

Camas Junior High Group
We meet with the junior boys from Camas at our home on the new Ranch! We will play games, eat dinner, and do a Bible study. These meeting have provided a place for connection and spiritual growth.

College-Aged Group
A the Ranch we meet with our college-aged kids that we have been mentoring since sixth grade. We will have games, eat dinner, and do a Bible study. These meeting have provided a place for connection and spiritual growth.

Covington Group
This is the Covington group of kids. We had monthly outreach nights at Covington Middle School. We would have basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, and octoball. We would feed the kids and then share a short message about the love of Jesus. These events were so well attended that we had to stop advertising because we were getting over 100 kids showing up.

Grace Therapuetic
Last January we started taking kids to a horse ranch once a week. Robin, the owner of Grace Therapeutic Horse Ranch, graciously allowed us to bring five kids a week to her ranch. She helped to equip us with some training for own Rising Above Daily Youth Ranch. Since we could only bring five kids a week, we brought two different groups every other week. We eventually had kids that wanted to go to the ranch on a wait list. While at the ranch the kids would do chores, groom the horses, ride the horses, and would end the evening with pizza and a Bible study.
Covington to Young Life summer camp
In June 2023 we sent eight kids from Covington to Young Life summer camp in June. We had monthly outreach meetings at Covington Middle School and weekly Bible studies this year. The eight kids that went had an amazing time, learned about the love of Jesus, and connected well with the leaders and with each other. It was great to see two of the students we have been mentoring for years, CJ and Talus, become leaders for these middle school boys.
A year and a half ago we tragically lost one of your Young Life kids in a car accident. In Grayson’s memory, we started the Grayson Kennedy Memorial Ski Trip. It was a good time of sharing memories of Grayson, connecting with one another, having Bible study together, and of course hitting the slopes. This year we went to Timberline on Mt. Hood. So thankful for the time we had with Grayson before he passed and cherish the moments we can honor his memory. His mom has set up a foundation in his name. She has helped kids get to summer camp the last two years including several kids from Covington. If you want to learn more about the foundation, you can visit the website at gkmf.org (Grayson Kennedy Memorial Fund). January 2022.
