Meet Our Beloved Equine Mentorship Herd

River, the Gentle Horse

River is our dependable guy. He gets along with everyone, human and horse. He has a gentle and laid-back spirit that draws you to him and creates a peace over everyone he encounters. River enjoys being in the moment with those around him. He has a tendency to help youth calm their minds by just being himself. River is a fun sized chestnut gelding with a small stripe down this face and is most likely in his mid 20’s making him a great ride for our younger youth, but a great friend to everyone 😊

Big Gray, the Mindful One

Big Gray was the first horse in our herd. He immediately brought a peace and comfort over the ranch. Big Gray is very mellow, but very aware of his surroundings. Because he is sensitive, he tends to mirror the emotions of those around him. With Big Gray, youth understand that they have a responsibility to regulate emotions to keep their mind calm, thus keeping Big Gray calm too. Big Gray is a medium-large guy with striking black legs, mane and tail contrasting bright dapples and one white pastern and a star. He is in his mid 20’s and is a solid and dependable teacher for any skill level.

Shadow, the Joyful Leader

Shadow has a fun and exuberant personality bringing joy to everyone that meets him. Shadow’s name has a two-fold meaning: he is a love bug that likes to follow people around like a shadow, but he is also the herd protector. He covers and protects the others in the herd so they can be safe and relaxed. As the herd leader, he tends to be stern with those in the herd, yet soft and kind with the humans that surround him. Shadow is a big, glowing chestnut with three bright white socks and a stripe on his face. He is a 15-year-old gelding that is a fun and exciting step up for our more advanced youth, but his cuddly and lovable personality makes him fun to just hang out with at all ages and skill levels.

Our Herd is Amazing! Gentle! Silly!
